What are the three types of Communion? ›

Put simply, the term “communion” carries with it a variety of different meanings in the Christian faith, so perhaps it would be helpful to anyone exploring Christ and His church to break down “communion” into three distinct categories; communion as Eucharist, communion as community, and communion as mystery.

Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.

Don't come when you harbor resentment or unforgiveness in your heart. Don't come claiming to cherish the forgiveness of God when you won't forgive someone else. Don't come when you are divided from your brothers and sisters over some secondary, non-essential matter–a political perspective or a cultural bias.

Plainly and simply, the answer is no. Communion is only for believers in Jesus Christ. The Bible does not say you must be baptized to receive communion, and I won't say it either.
